As I began making environmental paintings I felt compelled to return to the lovely places I experienced as a youth. I took my children to those same places and experienced them from a different perspective. My paintings are infused with the memories of my childhood and the memories of my own childrens’ youth as well. There is a sweetness to those memories that I hope you will find in your own reflections.
Ohi`a and Hapu`u Forest, Volcano
Ohi`a is often the first tree to grow on fresh lava flows. Over time, dense forests of Ohi`a and Hapu`u emerge from once molten rock.
Painted on site at the lovely Ali`i Kane Cottages in Volcano.
