As I began making environmental paintings I felt compelled to return to the lovely places I experienced as a youth. I took my children to those same places and experienced them from a different perspective. My paintings are infused with the memories of my childhood and the memories of my own children's youth. There is a sweetness to those memories that I hope you will find in your own reflections.

Ohi'a is often the first tree to grow on fresh lava flows. Over time, dense forests of Ohi'a and Hapu'u emerge from once molten rock.
